With cheerful songs and graceful flight, birds enrich the environment of every yard. While plants, flowers, and regular bird feeder provide food for our feathered friends, the small birds often must compete with larger, aggressive birds and critters such as squirrels to find adequate nourishment. Duncraft caters to these petite birds with this squirrel-proof selective bird feeder. With its protective design, the hanging feeder allows small birds to dine unfettered throughout the year. The selective feeder contains seed in a 15-1/2-inch recycled polycarbonate tube. Birds perch before six metal seed ports to eat. A metal cage-style casing surrounds the tube, keeping pests away by allowing only small birds to pass through the gaps in the casing to dine. A metal cap tops the feeder to thwart damage from eager claws and teeth and Duncraft's squirrel-lock secures the tube inside. To satiate squirrels and large birds without disrupting the smaller birds' meal, discarded seed falls through the feeder's wire base to the ground. The feeder offers a loop for installing the feeder from tree branches or from an overhang. Users should regularly clean the feeder with equal parts water and white vinegar to protect the birds from bacteria and disease and restock with fresh seed. The feeder holds approximately 1-1/2 pounds of seed. Birdseed is not included. The full feeder spans 17-1/2 inches in length with a 10-inch diameter. This item weighs 5-1/2 pounds upon shipping. --Jessica Reuling
